May Updates

•May 5, 2010 • Comments Off

After a lengthy break we are back in business. Sincerest apologies for the lapse. Right now we are slowly adding to and modifying the Unpublished Plays page. We have accounted for some of our list of anonymous plays but we still need your help reducing it. As our inventory grows, we are looking for better ways to manage the information on this site — your thoughts and suggestions to that end are also appreciated. Otherwise, a few new additions. First, we have decided to bring back the Published Plays page seeing as it provides visitors with complete publication information. Second, we have started to include relevant links on the right side of the page. More in the near future, we promise.

November Updates

After consulting widely and reviewing the feedback we’ve received, we’ve decided to shift our direction somewhat. As the existence of an exhaustive inventory of playwrights and plays seems to be as necessary as a means to publish them, we are now approaching the issue of publishing through inventory. Accordingly, you will notice some new pages here. The Playwrights and Titles pages are both meant to provide exhaustive inventories. In time we hope these will link to individual pages devoted to the authors and plays. We’ve opted to keep the index of Unpublished Plays (arranged by author) but as the information contained on the Published Play inventory will ultimately be recorded on the individual play pages, it seemed redundant to keep that page. We’ve also decided to remove the Challenges and Actions pages all together in lieu of a Your Ideas page.

In short, we feel the best way forward at this point is to address the issue of play publishing through an online service that will ultimately also provide relevant information about the plays, author bios, and a range of other material. Certainly, this approach is one that is fashionable right now but we feel that it can be meaningful and relevant if you assist us with ideas for its curatorial/editorial direction. Please share your ideas with us!

Greetings!

Welcome to the Publishing the Dramatic Text in Newfoundland and Labrador Blog. We are attempting to develop a strategic plan for the comprehensive publication of dramatic texts within our province. Right now, we are soliciting feedback from everyone and anyone willing to provide us with their two cents so we can begin to focus our conversation. What challenges prevent the publication of our dramatic texts? What actions can we take to address those challenges? How much material (both unpublished and published) is actually out there? We need your help addressing all of these questions. Navigate using the links on the right side of the page and start sharing your knowledge! You can also check us out on Facebook here.
